Glenn Robinson III will reportedly sign a deal with the Detroit Pistons
By Tony East
After spending two years playing for the Indiana Pacers, Glenn Robinson III will be moving on and playing for the Detroit Pistons.
An unfortunate injury caused Glenn Robinson III to miss a majority of this past season and see himself fall out of the rotation in Indiana. When the Pacers added Doug McDermott yesterday, it became more clear there would no longer be a role for GR3 on the team.
Robinson desired to play somewhere where he could find more playing time and lockdown some financial security, and today it was announced by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports that Robinson found what he was looking for in Detroit:
Charania clarified as much in a follow-up tweet that explained both the specifics of the contract and Glenn Robinson III’s motives for choosing the Pistons over other destinations:
The move from Indiana to Michigan is not a new one for Robinson. He was born in the northwest region of Indiana and played his high school basketball there. But when it became time for him to decide where to play in college, he chose Michigan, the state where he will no be playing again.
Robinson pulling in 8.3 million is awesome for him and his family. After playing for minimum contracts his entire career up until this point, Robinson is finally cashing in on the improvements and talents he showed while playing for the Pacers.
Across three seasons in Indiana, Robinson averaged five points and 2.6 rebounds per game across 137 contests and, equally importantly, 32 starts. His ability to fill in as a starter during the 2016-17 season was a huge part of what made him so liked in Indiana.

Beyond that, GR3 was a dunk contest champion and an all-around great dude. He will be very missed in the blue and gold. We all wish him the best in Detroit.
