Darren Collison may have exceeded expectations more than any non-Oladipo player on the Pacers this season. Let’s look back on his career year.

Most sequels stink. Everybody knows that. The second movie is never as good as the first, the original always has a certain feel to it that makes it better and more likable. But don’t tell Darren Collison this information. The sequel to the movie “Darren Collison plays basketball for the Pacers” was WAY better than the original.

Collison’s first stint in Indiana was nothing special. He was just a sophomore in the league at the time, but his defense stunk and he only shot 34.4 percent from deep across two seasons. Near the end of his second season, he lost his starting spot to George Hill and that was that.

Flash forward five seasons, and Collison returned. This time, things were way better. Collison was the point guard for a starting unit that was clicking on all cylinders all season long, and he was a huge part of why they were successful. He led the league in assist/turnover ratio and three-point percentage, and he found ways to be impactful in way more areas of the game than he ever had before.

So it seems as if the sequel was much better for Collison. And it is not over yet. Let’s take a look at his season back in Indiana and then examine what comes next for the veteran caretaker.
