The USA Basketball organization announced their 35-man roster for the Men’s National Team in the upcoming years, a squad of guys who will be vying for spots in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and the 2020 Olympics. Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner made the cut.
Amidst an intense ending to the NBA regular season, USA Basketball made headlines today as they announced their 35-man roster for the Men’s National Team for the upcoming years, from 2018-2020. This team of guys will be part of an effort to defend the USA’s titles in the FIBA World Cup and the Olympics, and training begins this summer during a mini-camp in Las Vegas from July 25 to July 27.
Coming as no surprise to the Pacers, Victor Oladipo secured a spot on the roster after his brilliant performance this year. It should be noted that he was a member of the team in 2015-16, and a member of the USA Select Team, a squad that trains with the Olympic roster, on multiple occasions.
What may come as a slight surprise, though, is the selection of Myles Turner to the team, as this is his first time being named to the roster. Other newbies along with Turner include Devin Booker, CJ McCollum, Khris Middleton and Isaiah Thomas. Turner was a member of the 2016 USA Select Team.
For two players who have been key parts of the Pacers unexpected success this year, this comes as a great honor. Oladipo has emerged as one of the best shooting guards in the league, and Turner remains one of the NBA’s best budding bigs.
