Shooting Guard Matchup: Victor Oladipo v Jaylen Brown

The hardest part of this section for me was deciding who is actually the shooting guard for the Celtics. Is it Brown? Or is it Jayson Tatum? Brad Stevens calls them both “wings” in his positionless basketball system, so it doesn’t truly matter. Either way, Oladipo is better, so this is easy.

Before we crown Vic, let’s give Jaylen Brown some credit. He has taken huge steps forward as a scorer in his second season in the league, shooting better from pretty much everywhere. What is more impressive is that he has done it without losing a step on defense, something that he excels at for someone his age.

But Oladipo is just way better. Vic is an all-star and a better player on both sides of the ball. Add to it that Dipo has scored 100 points in just three games against Boston this season, and it’s clear who should take this matchup (as if it wasn’t clear already).

Advantage: Pacers
