While Victor Oladipo wasn’t able to put up enough points to advance to the second round of the 2018 NBA Dunk Contest, he did put up a slam that is sure to please fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It wasn’t Victor Oladipo’s night in the dunk contest, as he wasn’t able to connect on the first dunk of his first round (though it would’ve been sick).

That left him without enough points to advance regardless of his second dunk, but he still put on a nice show for Pacers fans and fans of the movie Black Panther.

For those of you that missed the contest, here’s the dunk in question:

After sporting the mask, Oladipo ran up to the rim, raising the ball above his head for a tomahawk slam before pulling back and completing a windmill to boot. The dunk itself was pretty impressive, but the limited vision certainly added to the degree of difficulty of pulling the slam off.

All in all, the second dunk netted him a score of 40 points, which put his total round score at 76. Although it wasn’t enough to put him through to the final round, the dunk was still a fun part of a fun dunk contest.

Given that Black Panther released worldwide last night, with a lot of fans catching the film today, the tribute was a timely nod to what looks to be one of the most successful movies of the year. If his first dunk had gone down, who knows what Oladipo would’ve put up next.

Donovan Mitchell was the official winner of the evening’s contest, but Pacer fans should still be proud of their star.

Next: Nate McMillan doesn’t need your love and respect

Besides, he’ll have another crack at the weekend’s festivities tomorrow night at the All-Star Game as a member of Team LeBron.
