It’s the beginning of a new era for the Indiana Pacers, who unveiled new jerseys, as well as a new logo and a new court design.
The Indiana Pacers are practically unrecognizable, thanks to a whole new look coinciding with the new Nike uniform contract. New jerseys, a new logo and a new court design were made public at the River West Street Fest on Friday night.
The Pacers had teased all three of these things pretty heavily over the last few days, so we had a pretty good idea of the broad strokes. However, the new jerseys are quite a shift from last year’s designs, arguably the starkest change that we’ve seen from any team so far.
The court design makes the hardwood seem lighter than it looks in real life, and it includes the new slogan, “we grow basketball here” as well as the sun beam/cornrow pattern all across the border of the court.
The Pacers also tweeted out this image:
They didn’t indicate if it would be used in any official capacity. Through each unveiling is an emphasis on the rich tradition that Indiana basketball has.
Myles Turner was quick to post a video of him scoring for the first time in the “new fits.” He also spoke to the media about the new uniforms. “I think Nike did a really good job with the look of the whole uniform, from the shorts to the tops,” he said. “Aside from the look, they did their homework into making them comfortable for the players. These uniforms are going to be very popular.”
Lance Stephenson also gave his two cents. “It’s a great new look for the new look Pacers,” he said. “They fit great, they feel great. I think fans are really going to like them. I like them so much I’m going to buy my own jersey.”
