Mission Accomplished: C.J. Miles Shoots Above 40% For the First Time in His Career
By Josh Padmore
C.J. Miles shot above 40% from three-point land for the first time in his NBA career this season with the Indiana Pacers.
Before the season started, I asked if C.J. Miles could finally shot over 40% from deep in a season. 82 games later, Miles has officially accomplished the feat, as he shot 41.3% this year.
His three-point shooting wasn’t the only bright spot. Miles played in 76 games, the second most games he’s played in an entire season.
As I pointed out in the previous article, injuries were a reason as to why Miles’ three-point percentage dropped. This year, he really only dealt with one significant injury: a hyper-extended knee that sidelined him for 6 games. Those were the only games he missed this season.
One difference between this season and last is last season was how much he played the power forward position.
Miles got posted up quite a bit and his body took a toll on him. His legs gave out on him. It’s hard to shoot with no legs under you. He played the small-ball four at times this season, but nowhere near as much as he did last year. Having Thaddeus Young made sure that no longer was an issue.
Miles made a total of 169 three-pointers this season, which is easily a career-high. He also made some franchise history, as he moved into 7th place all-time in three-pointers made with 465,
Ironically, he only needed two more to pass Chuck Person for 6th all-time. Despite George Hill being a Pacer for five years, Miles is only 11 three-pointers behind him for 5th all-time.

It’s safe to say it was a good year for C.J. Miles. He can opt-out of his contract with the Pacers this summer and become a free agent, though. Plenty of teams will have interest in him, especially after his career year in three-point shootings.
