Post-Game Grades: Golden State Warriors Kick the Indiana Pacers’ Collective Ass

The Indiana Pacers had their collective ass kicked by the Golden State Warriors in their most lopsided loss of the season.

The Good:

"“Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world, the disarray. I choose to see the beauty. To believe there is an order to our days. A purpose.” — Dolores Abernathy"

The Indiana Pacers’ purpose on Monday, much like the hosts in HBO’s Westworld, was to entertain their opponent while never actually being a threat.

The Golden State Warriors were much like the Man in Black in the show as they seemed to have a mastery of the game to the point, it may be starting to lose its fun. At this point, there is only one thing Golden State can look forward to, and that is getting revenge against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

But until then, the Warriors have to keep themselves entertained.

Klay Thompson, in particular, could have looked into any of the Pacers’ players eyes and said some of the Man in Black’s words from the first episode of the show.

"“I never understood why they paired some of you off. Seems cruel. And then I realized winning doesn’t mean anything unless someone else loses. Which means you’re here to be the loser. — The Man in Black"

That’s all the Pacers could be tonight as they allowed 116 points through the first three quarters,. Tonight was a reminder that some of the mismatched parts of Indiana’s roster haven’t come together as hoped, and there are problems that must be addressed with the defense as the team goes forward.

There was nothing Indiana could do to hurt Golden State. Unless something changes in Indiana’s programming or the way they are built as a team, this won’t change.

The Bad: Allowing Klay Thompson 60 points on 21 of 33 shooting, going 8 of 14 from deep and 10 of 11 from the line.

This was the most points the Pacers had surrendered to any one player in the franchise’s history.

Indiana allowed a season high to their opponent in the 142-106 loss.
