Paul George went off for 21 points in the fourth quarter to put away the Detroit Pistons and hopefully end his current shooting slump.
The Good: Damn.
Just damn.
Paul George scored the Indiana Pacers last 21 points and hopefully ended his slump. He was 2 of 11 going into the final frame before going 7 of 7 to close out his night. That was a perfect fourth quarter. He finished with 32 points and 14 rebounds, but seven turnovers are still too many.
The Bad: A mini-fight to end the game. Stan Van Gundy gets a double technical, followed by Andre Drummond playing pointless defense on George Hill, who dribbles it out of bounds. Paul George and George Hill go for the unnecessary steal, which leads to Marcus Morris getting in Paul George’s face. PG didn’t back down, Morris shoves, older Pacers fans panic fearing a “Fight at the Fieldhouse”, a sequel no one wanted to the Malice in the Palace. Thankfully, nothing much happened.
Also, to be fair, PG downplayed the shove after the game.
MVP: Paul George for closing things out.
LVP: Marcus Morris. No problem with him jawing with Paul George, but the shove was out of line. It takes two to tango, but he certainly made the Pistons look salty on their way out.
X-Factor: George Hill’s 18 points before PG’s rampage are what set the table, let that not be forgotten. The Hometown Hero was 7 of 8 shooting on the night.
