1. So many injuries

It can’t get any worse than last year on this front, right? No, not really, actually, not unless Paul George, well, uh. No.

In any case, the Pacers are due for some good luck this year on the injury front after the players on our counter from last season wound up missing 195 games due to various ailments.

So far, that optimism has held up through the preseason and first pair of regular season games, although Myles Turner did miss the season opener with ankle soreness. Otherwise, everyone has looked fairly healthy, including the comeback kid Paul George, who has been inconsistent offensively but moving well at both ends of the floor. Monta Ellis is also getting over an upper respiratory infection, for what it’s worth.

Compared to the trauma of last season, almost any injury load would be favorable, and so far, Indiana has been blessed to get along with relatively trivial ailments, thank the basketball gods.

And since health is so fickle, let’s move on from talking about the Pacers’ health before we jinx the team again. After last year, no chances will be taken.
