8p9s Roundtable: Beating the Wizards, Looking to the Grizzlies
Which Indiana Pacers player should get the game ball in last night’s win?
Washburn: It’s got to be George Hill. C.J. Miles was fantastic and David West made some winning plays at the end, but what Hill did by himself without C.J. Watson to come in and spell him at all was phenomenal. Once again, he more than held his own against John Wall and was nearly dragged off the floor with a triple-double in his back pocket. Plus, he hit the game-icing 3 with who-knows-how-little gas left in the tank. The Hometown Hero indeed.
Gibson: The most obvious guys are George Hill and C.J. Miles since they weren’t M.I.A. in the first half. But I want to give one to Roy Hibbert. He had a pair of hustle plays and hit a shot he had no business shooting to tie the game. Besides, he needs a vote of confidence more than the rest of the team.
Wade: George Hill. He was the one who played out of his mind for a month and a half after getting healthy as Indiana won 11 of 13, and he was the one beacon of consistency and high-level play last night. At times late in the game, he slowed the offense down too much and dribbled the air out of the ball. Plus he missed a long 2 late that was a suspect decision and blew a layup. But this is his team right now, and he was the biggest reason they won last night.
Stewart: For me, it’s George Hill. Even though he missed that near-wide-open layup, almost causing me to suffer from a stroke, he left it all on the floor and kept the tempo pushing even when the Fieldhouse fell quiet. That, combined with the fact that he had to guard one of the silkiest point guards in the game means Hill goes home with the game ball.
