When the Indiana Pacers were down 6 with 5 minutes left, did you think the season was over?

Washburn: Oddly, no. Trace that back to a trust in this team’s refusal to quit, and the knowledge that Randy Wittman was drawing up plays on the other bench. When David West and George Hill put the Pacers on their back and saved the day yet again, I wasn’t remotely surprised. But again, it wasn’t all that enjoyable.

Gibson: Yes. It just seemed like something had to finally give. The team had to eventually wear down, but they didn’t. But Indiana kept at it and survived.

Wade: Not really, but that’s only because this has been The Season of George for me. And, no, I don’t mean Paul George or George Hill — I mean George Costanza. Whatever I instinctively expect, I switch to the opposite. So … when Indiana was dreadful, they won 11 of 13. Then when the were the best team in a month, their staunch defense fell apart and the lost 9 of 11. So now, when they start off with a 33-point half and look like they are finished, it just makes me more certain they will win. These are the Pacers — Pacin’. Now they’re gonna head to Memphis, go up 25 in the first half then lose by 15 — as I watch from home eating chicken salad on rye and a cup of tea.

Stewart: I did. Not putting Paul George in the game was a worrying sign for me, and I thought they were looking at a lotto pick and some time off. Instead, Indy fought their way back despite everything John Wall could throw at them. It wasn’t a pretty win, but a necessary one if playoffs remain the goal.
