#10. Larry Staverman

Overall: 40-47*

  • 1967-68: 38-40  3rd (out of 5) in the East; 0-3 in playoffs
  • 1968-69: 2-7  Fired mid-season

Coach Larry Staverman was the very first coach in Indiana Pacers history. The Kentucky native was an unlikely choice for the Indiana franchise, but he did “lead” a pretty loaded roster to the playoffs in year one.

Importantly, Staverman started off the next season dreadfully.

And this made way for some guy nicknamed “Slick” to come in and lead the Pacers to the ABA Finals.
