4. Which Indiana Pacers player could be a track star like Florence Griffith-Joyner?

Donahue: The Pacer franchise isn’t really known for speedy players, so Darren Collison probably becomes the most likely. His parents were both track and field stars for Guyana. Of course, if anyone on the track set a pick, he would stop dead.

I choose David West. I think his shot-put and discus throws would be so earth shattering that no other competitor would come close.

Furr: I’m going way way into the obscure vault here, but I’m gong to go with Jamison Brewer. He always seemed like the fastest guy on the court, and even though he could never harness it. Plus, dreadlocks become even more awesome at high speeds. Who doesn’t wanna see that?

Washburn: I’m not sure that anyone in Pacers history would be a great sprinter, but I feel like Jeff Foster might have been an amazing decathlete. Dude was fast, strong, aggressive, and would have certainly dominated in the hurdles, triple jump, long jump, and high jump. I’m fairly certain he would destroy the smaller decathletes in the javelin and shot putt as well. If he could simply hold his own on some of the sprints and longer runs, he would have been a gold medal contender for sure.

Medworth: This might be a strange choice, but I choose David West. I think his shot-put and discus throws would be so earth shattering that no other competitor would come close. Can you imagine standing on deck at the shot-put ring waiting to compete while watching David West take his turn? I think most people would be a scratch right then and there.

Gibson: Luis Scola. He’d be terrible, but I’d get a pretty good laugh out of watching him run a 100 yard dash.
