Indiana Pacers Trade Option #4: Go Big or Go Home
Why this is a good Indiana Pacers trade – Carmelo and PG could prove to be a dynamic duo for years to come and give Indy two superstars who both know how to score with the best of em’. Not since the likes of #31 has this team seen a superstar of Melo’s caliber. This is essentially Bird going in the exact opposite direction and focusing on winning now instead of rebuilding. A game changer for this team’s outlook in 2015-2016.
Why this is a good New York Knicks trade – Phil is preparing to blow this bad boy up and start over with his recent trade of J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert for a bag of peanuts. The deal he gave Melo in the offseason was predicated on adding pieces around his star player, but even he must know that is going to prove nearly impossible at $22 million+ per year over the next five years. Solomon Hill isn’t a huge chip, but he is a good young asset on a good deal, and Scola is on an expiring deal that would give the Knicks more cap room. And if the Pacers continue to lose to teams like Philadelphia and Minnesota, the draft pick would easily be the best asset in the deal. Hibbert has a player option for next year and could potentially opt-out as well (although probably not likely at $15.5 million).
