#5. 2007 NBA Draft

  • Acquired Stanko Barac (#39) from the Miami Heat for a future second-round pick

This one really doesn´t require any analysis.

I only stash it here in the middle of the list because it is the only truly innocuous draft in the past decade.

There was clearly nothing bad or good to come of it, whereas even the Solomon Hill selection may prove great if he becomes a Hall of Famer or bad if he cons all his teammates out of their money in a Ponzi scheme.

In 2007, the Pacers had no first-round pick, having dealt it away to the Atlanta Hawks, and no second-round pick, having traded it to the Portland Trailblazers (in which deal, I do not recall).

Still, Bird saw something he liked in the plucky Stanko Barac of Stankonia.

Alas, it was never to be, as Stanko never played in the NBA, instead going on to watch his countrymen Big Boi and Andre 3000 sell 10 million records and achieve international fame.
