NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Should Not Push for Being Traded
By Josh Dhani
Carmelo Anthony is actually making a wrong choice in being traded by the Denver Nuggets. To me, it’s just not the right decision at all. Anthony wants to be moved and was mostly pushing towards to going to the New York Knicks or the Chicago Bulls. But now there is a perfect chance at going to the New Jersey Nets, as there is a four-team trade set. But now it has hit a sudden halt.
“He’s having second thoughts on Jersey,” one league source said. “He’s pushed [Denver] to explore other options.”
The Nets ultimately would be worse than staying with the Nuggets. Anthony would probably regret the decision of going to the Nets.
But there is a chance of still going to the Knicks, as Anthony wanted, as New York is involving players like Danilo Gallanari, Toney Douglas, and Anthony Randolph as trade bait. But most likely, such a deal of Anthony won’t happen unless if the All-Star small forward is a free agent.
But Kobe Bryant gave some pretty good advice on the Nets’ scenario. He said don’t leave just to leave.
“We’ll see if he signs a reasonable extension and if he’s 100 percent happy that it’s where he wants to go,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports Saturday. “If not, don’t make a move just to get out of the situation. …Make sure it’s a move that you’re very happy in and you’re comfortable with.”
The Nets were the worst team from last season. Plus, Anthony would only have one really good teammate, which is Brook Lopez. Troy Murphy is overrated and is only good when healthy. And plus, with Anthony going to the Nets, New Jersey will be without Devin Harris and Derrick Favors. Really, the Nuggets would benefit.
Plus, rumors swirled of D.J. Augustin would come to the Nets. News flash, the Charlotte Bobcats do not want to give up on their young point guard.
“I’m closer to him than anyone else from my Olympic team,” Bryant said. “My advice is to do what he feels is right for him and his family. It starts there. He has to be happy with the situation that he is in because if your heart isn’t where it should be, it could have a half-ass effect. You don’t want that. You can’t please everybody. You just have to do what’s right for you.”
Going to the Nets, Carmelo won’t be happy.
My advice to Melo would be to just stay with the Nuggets. Play out the season and try to make the most of it. You never know what might happen. The Nuggets have the talent set in place, having guys like Chauncey Billups, J.R. Smith, Ty Lawson, Kenyon Martin, Nene Hilario, Al Harrington, and more on the squad. They are talented.
But if nothing goes through, there is free agency. Plus, you can probably benefit a lot more and get more money than the three-year $65 million deal set in place for him to go to the Nets. You can also go to your dream places with the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks.
Make the right decision Carmelo.
