C.J. Miles is working out this offseason, but Lavoy Allen decided to make a joke about the shooting guard’s versatility.
The long offseason is here and though we don’t know if C.J. Miles will return to the Indiana Pacers, we do know he is hard at work keeping in shape this summer.
Monday on Instagram, Miles shared a photo of him working out in Seguin, Texas, but the story wasn’t that he is staying in shape. It is of his positional flexibility.
In the comments, his teammate Lavoy Allen joked the two should be working out together since they are both power forwards.
"chef_voy_ardee Hey CJ it’s your old teammate, let me know if you wanna workout together (pause) since we play the same position (pause) #PowerForwards4Life"
Miles returned fire, offering to make Allen a shooting guard.
"masfresco@chef_voy_ardee smh bro I can turn you into a shooting guard lol"
Judging from the comments it seems that it is a joke among the players that the 6-foot-6 shooting guard is actually a power forward.
Miles stepped into that role when Paul George wasn’t comfortable with a few years ago. While Miles performed well, going up against bigger players regularly took a toll on his body.
While it is a punchline among the players, Miles did anything and everything the Indiana Pacers asked of him over the past few seasons. In the Nate Taylor’s piece on Miles opting out, the Indy Star writer pulled out one of C.J.’s quotes from earlier in the year that summed up his stint in Indiana.
"“I’m a guy who will do whatever I’m asked to do for my team,” Miles said last month. “Don’t get me wrong, I don’t always like everything. But if my coach, my team, needs me to do something, I’m going to do it with a smile on my face, and I’m going to do it the best that I can. Because I want to win. If I have to mold my game and change it every couple of nights, or I get a month at guard, then a month at forward, it is what it is. I want to play. I want to compete. I want to help my team win games. I think I was able to do it successfully most of the time this year. I take it as a compliment that they feel I can plug holes like that.”"

Whoever signs him this offseason will get a 40 percent plus 3-point shooter and a hardworking teammate. Whether the Indiana Pacers can afford him with all their other contract obligation is yet to be seen, but someone is getting a talented veteran “power forward” on their roster next season.
