The Five Most Annoying Things in the NBA

I must say that around this time of year, college basketball is more entertaining to watch than most NBA games out there. With the exception of the “big games” featuring the best teams and brightest stars in the NBA, college basketball will be on my TV during February and March.

There are some things in the NBA that are so tired and annoying that it’s just hard to watch. Most of the basketball I have watched this year has been centered around the NBA—although there have been some great college hoops games already.

Here are five of the most annoying things that I have grown tired of in the NBA so far this season…in no particular order…

Games on NBA TV

The NBA TV channel was a good idea, don’t get me wrong, but it has a long way to go before it catches up to the NFL and MLB networks.

Part of the reason I can’t stand this channel is one of the hosts, Rick Kamla, pictured here. His constant yelling and thoughtless comments give me headaches that no amount of Tylenol can fix.

It’s nice that the fans can “vote” to see whatever game they want on Tuesdays—but every week, it’s the Cavaliers, no matter who they are playing. And even though LeBron is amazing, I can only take so much of the rest of the Cavs team.

The Summer 2010 Free Agents

OK, we all know who is going to be a free agent in the summer, and have speculated a thousand times on where they might end up and who is saying what. We really have no idea what is going to happen.

Can we let this season play out and then get to all of that?

This topic was talked about two years ago—and the talk continues, even months before the playoffs are even to begin. The real issue here is the number of teams that are tanking all of these games and trading away decent players to free up cap space.

What is going to happen to the teams that don’t get LeBron, Wade, or Bosh? It’s going to be an awful thing for the NBA.

NBA All-Star Weekend

It used to be the All-Star game was fun to watch. The dunk contest used to be all the rage on Saturday night. Now we have the Shooting Stars competition, Celebrity Game, Skills Challenge, and H-O-R-S-E?

I just don’t get it. Well, maybe I do—it’s all about the money.

Perhaps the only thing worth watching is the Rookie/Sophomore Game. Everything else is meaningless, and the league is just trying too hard. It’s becoming embarrassing.

Brian Scalabrine

I’m sorry, but really? Brian Scalabrine has an NBA Championship?

When this guy is on the court, I find myself getting upset and unable to watch anymore. There is the Will Ferrell comparison, of course, but I mean, I have never seen anyone like this in the NBA—and it’s just simply annoying.

The Cavs’ Alternate Jerseys

Knicks fans everywhere salivate when they see LeBron in these colors—and what might be for the future.

Seriously, the Cavs have more uniforms than the University of Oregon.

Whatever happened to having a normal jersey? For some reason, they seem to wear these every other game, and they honestly hurt my eyes. When LeBron was drafted, the Cavs changed their logo and uniforms to signal a new era.

So why are we going old school every other night? Stop it.
