This Raptors and Pacers trade may be too good to pass up for either team

We at @8pts8secs feel that this trade overall would be a beneficial move for the Pacers for a couple of different reasons.

  • OG has multiple years left on his current contract. It is always a good idea to trade away assets with shorter amounts of time left, for ones with longer contracts still to play.
  • Turner might decide to leave in free agency anyways. This would be a way to use his capital still. Although, for those emotionally attached, this could prove difficult.
  • The Pacers have too many first-round picks next year. We aren’t going to have enough room on the roster to draft and develop this many players. Trading away some draft capital to upgrade to a player of OG’s ability would be huge for the team.

Ultimately, Toronto may decide to continue to pursue a Donovan Mitchell-like return for OG Anunoby. Our thoughts on that? Toronto is going to be eagerly waiting beside a phone waiting for a call that will never come if they decide not to lower their asking price a bit. OG is great, but he isn’t worth multiple starters and 3-4 first round picks/swaps.
