Would the newest NBA trade candidates fit with the Indiana Pacers?
By Joe Lyon
Deandre Ayton, Pheonix Suns
Another player that will become available for trades on the 15th of January will be Deandre Ayton. Pacers fans are likely very familiar with the big man, as he was technically signed by the Pacers for a few hours this summer prior to Pheonix matching the offer sheet.
Because of that whole fiasco, Ayton is no longer able to be traded to the Pacers this year, so in one sense, this conversation becomes void.
But would the big man have fit with the Pacers had they been able to trade for him this season?
With Myles Turner playing so well for them this season, Ayton might not be much of an upgrade at all at the position, and so it is likely the Pacers wouldn’t have interest in trading for him at this point given the cost it might take to do so.
Of course we believe that in a vacuum Ayton is a great player. We just aren’t sure at this point that he would be a better fit for the Pacers roster that Turner already is.
