Will the Indiana Pacers finally develop their young talent?

A large problem with the Pacers in recent years has been their inability to develop their own talent and get quality production out of their young players. Aaron Holiday has been shipped out of town after failing to make the leap in his third season with the club. Goga Bitadze appears to be heading down a similar path with the Pacers heading into his third season.

Bitadze missed the Summer League and watched his team draft competition for his minutes in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. If Bitadze cannot get things going, it will be yet another blemish on Indiana’s draft record.

This season, Indiana will have a lot of young players that could be very useful role players. Oshae Brissett, who started a handful of games and did surprisingly well in his first season with the team, should be a staple of the second unit if they allow him to be. He is the perfect small-ball four and perimeter defender to lead the bench unit.

Chris Duarte and Isaiah Jackson, the Pacers’ two first-round selections, have both flashed brilliance on offense and defense in their first summer. The only way for these guys to get better is to let them see the floor early on and let them learn as they go.

Indiana cannot let another young player’s career go to waste because they are scared to play him.

Next. 4 players that could be traded by the deadline. dark
