Malcolm Brogdon’s top-notch backcourt play will net the Indiana Pacers some great immediate returns

Few players of Malcolm Brogdon‘s caliber are routinely made available. While recent reports claim that the alleged Ben Simmons-Brogdon swap was erratic, rumblings of the front office making the fifth-year player available have surfaced since the trade deadline in the recently concluded campaign.

At his best, Brogdon is an All-Star caliber player who can single-handedly direct the pace of the game with his reliable playmaking, efficient three-level shot-making and general maturity on the court. Couple that with his versatility on defense, and you’re looking at a point guard who can help guide a team to a deep playoff run as a high-level starter.

Small markets like Indiana should try and keep players of these level for as long as possible, but if the Pacers go star hunting or attempt to get younger at the lead guard position, then dealing Brogdon isn’t the worst move to make, especially considering the possible returns that the team can acquire for their prized playmaker.
