Lou Williams will stunt the growth of young guards on the Indiana Pacers

One of the perennially great sixth men in the league, Lou Williams has had a very respectable 16-year career in the league, braving through Father Time with his niche as an instant supplier of offense in second units. Unsurprisingly, he’s been named Sixth Man of the Year on three different occasions in 2015, 2018 and 2019.

Now with the Atlanta Hawks after a memorable stint with the LA Clippers, Williams, by his own admission, contemplated retirement, but decided to play it out with his new club and the results speak for themselves. In true Lou Will fashion, he’s spearheading yet another bench unit for a team that is currently wrestling it out in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

However, even if he decides to keep playing, the Indiana Pacers shouldn’t look at his direction. His instant scoring and playmaking will be tempting, especially if McConnel leaves, but his defense is… outright bad. More importantly, he will stunt the growth of guards like Aaron Holiday and Edmond Sumner who need more opportunities. Sorry, Lou Will.
