Malcolm Brogdon

In a similar sense to Sabonis, the pressure that’s put on Malcolm Brogdon to produce on the offensive end of the floor has started to take its toll. He recently had his worst performance of the season in a loss to Toronto which saw him shoot just 5-of-22 from the field and turn the ball over way more often than he’s accustomed to.

Brogdon is a great leader and ball-handler but he tends to take a lot of shots when he feels as if the offense is struggling. Given that he is arguably the best pure shooter on the team right now, it makes sense. But with LeVert set to enter the lineup at some point this season (hopefully), Brogdon will have another backcourt mate to share that load.

Brogdon is also in a similar position as Sabonis in regards to minutes played. He is racking up over 36 minutes per game, good for third in the NBA. Adding another guard who can play with the starters and the bench, which LeVert did in Brooklyn, will make the rotation a bit more flexible. With T.J. McConnell, Caris LeVert, Edmond Sumner, and Jeremy Lamb all in the mix, Brogdon should see some extra rest.

Obviously, it remains to be seen how the rotations and minutes will change once LeVert joins the team. Indiana has been running eight and nine-man rotations all season, which is typically saved for the playoffs. I’ll be interested to see how that plays out.
