Drastically increase the number of three-point attempts per game

Last season, the Indiana Pacers ranked last in three-point attempts per game at 28 per game. While it would be wrong to ask the Pacers to attempt to mimic the Houston Rockets’ 45 three-point attempts per game, finding a middle ground is crucial.

After all, the Lakers won an NBA championship while only taking nearly 32 attempts a game, so we should rule out an all or nothing approach to the three-ball.

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly giving Myles Turner the green light to shoot more threes. Just going from a current average of four three-point attempts to a hypothetical six would yield the Pacers about two extra points per night based on Turner’s current field goal percentage, which would go a long way towards solving the Pacers’ identified scoring woes.

By completing these three goals, the 2020-21 Indiana Pacers can make a strong first impression on fans and certainly create a sense of optimism going into what will be a unique season.
