Indiana Pacers Draft: 3 players worth trading into the first round for
Pacers draft: First-round trade targets — Onyeka Okongwo
Onyeka Okongwu • Fr. • Power Forward • USC
The highest-rated prospect on this list, Onyeka Okongwu is listed as the second-best center in the class (albeit undersized) and sixth-best prospect overall by ESPN.
A two-time Mr. California winner and four-time state champion at Chino Hills, Okongwu has never found his homecourt outside of southern California.
A strong talent on both ends of the court, Okongwu averaged 16.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while playing a massive 30.5 minutes per game last season. More impressively, he swatted 2.7 shots and stole the ball 1.2 times per game. His incredible sense of timing and athleticism on both ends of the court has drawn comparisons to Bam Adebayo who had a breakout season with the Miami Heat this year.
Okongwu likely won’t play center in the NBA but also does not possess the offensive talent to successfully spread the floor.
Right now, he’s limited to the power forward position in the NBA but has the upside to be a dominant power forward. If Okongwu does develop enough offensive touch to spread the floor, he will be an all-star talent.
