Indiana Pacers Draft: 3 players worth trading into the first round for
Pacers draft: First-round trade targets — Aaron Nesmith
Aaron Nesmith • So. • Small Forward • Vanderbilt
There was no better shooter in college basketball through the first 14 games of the 2019-20 season than Aaron Nesmith. He hit 52.2 percent of his 8.2 attempts per contest, a lethal combination of volume and accuracy.
Nesmith played just 46 games for the Commodores due to injury but could be a first-round candidate in the 2020 draft.
If he manages to fall to the second round, he should be considered a steal. From his freshman to sophomore season, Nesmith upped his scoring average more than double to 23 points per game and also grabbed 4.9 rebounds. He was also a threat on the defensive end with 1.4 steal and 0.9 blocks per contest.
A comparable skillset to Justin Holiday, Nesmith has a much larger build and more offensive skills with his ability to create shots and get to the basket. Doug McDermott and T.J. Warren saw some time at the power forward position when necessary this season. Nesmith, while somewhat undersized at 6’6”, has a strong frame that could see him slotted anywhere from shooting guard to power forward if needed.
