Indiana Pacers Draft: 3 players worth trading into the first round for
Pacers draft: First-round trade targets — Saddiq Bey
Saddiq Bey • So. • Forward • Villanova
A player that may fly under the radar in the draft, Saddiq Bey is ranked as the 18th-best prospect and third among power forwards according to ESPN. Offensively, he’s a capable scorer and shoot that averaged 16.1 points last season while shooting 45 percent from deep. It’s on the defensive end where Bey will earn a roster spot in the NBA next season.
While guarding the other team’s best players every night, Villanova ranked second in the Big East for adjusted defensive efficiency. His length and agility make Bey capable of keeping guards in front of him, but his 6-8, 216-pound frame is enough to hold his own underneath the basket.
Jay Wright’s Wildcats are a lock to become role players that make an immediate impact in the NBA over recent years.
Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Eric Paschall all earned significant rotation minutes for strong NBA teams early on in their careers. Bey doesn’t chart out to be a flashy player all-star type of player in the league. Expected to land anywhere from late lottery to early second round, wherever he goes, Bey could be the safest pick in this year’s draft class.
