Pacers to be traded before Victor Oladipo: Myles Turner

Myles Turner is the most likely trade the Pacers may make this summer. It’s a sure thing to watch when the team goes to Orlando to complete the season with the rest of the NBA teams. The fit has had some growth throughout the year, but there is reason to be concerned about the coexisting of Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner together in the starting frontcourt.

Turner was mentioned frequently at the trade deadline and there could be a number of suitors for him this summer.

With legitamite Defensive Player of the Year potential, Turner could fill a hole at the five for a number of teams, Charlotte and Utah included (especially given Utah’s ongoing situation with team chemistry involving Rudy Gobert, a repeat DPOY).

Turner’s defense is top-tier, but he’s been asked to take more 3-pointers this season to make room for the less willing shooter in Domantas Sabonis. That adjustment has been a slow one as should have been expected for Turner.

He’s coming around, and there is proof in the results. His increased shooting has helped Sabonis put up the first All-Star season in his young career.

But are some of his skills redundant? Could the Pacers benefit from a more mobile shooter in the four spot? Honestly, probably.

If I have to choose a side, I’d probably preach caution when it comes to a Turner trade, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kevin Pritchard and the Pacers do due diligence on options with Turner this offseason.

Without a doubt, short of untouchable players like Sabonis, Turner is the only player on the roster that could net something close to a star.

Undoubtedly, Turner should be moved long before Oladipo should be.
