Indiana Pacers: 10 best shooting guards in Indiana Pacers history
By Josh Wilson
3. Victor Oladipo
Though he has logged just three seasons with the Indiana Pacers thus far, Victor Oladipo has done enough to claim the third spot on the Pacers all-time shooting guard rankings.
In his first season, the former Indiana Hoosier won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award and made his first All-Star team, establishing himself as a clear leader of the team for their new era. He looked even better in year two, showing flashes of leadership on a squad competing for the Finals.
Then, in January 2019 Oladipo suffered a ghastly quad injury that kept him away from the game for over a year. Oladipo would only get the chance to play in 13 games in 2020 before the season was suspended due to concerns over novel coronavirus, leaving his ultimate legacy very much up in the air.
Oladipo is set to become a free agent after the 2020-21 season, which has already fueled trade speculation, a nuisance for level-headed Pacers fans everywhere.
Oladipo, in such a short time, has impressively put up some of the best stats we’ve ever seen from the SG position in Indiana. Averaging 20.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, Oladipo has logged 10.6 win shares in just 124 games. He’s the best scoring two in Pacers history per game.
If he re-signs with the Pacers following this contract, he has the chance to establish himself as an all-time great with the franchise, but it’s unlikely he ever gets higher than second overall on this list.
