Victor Oladipo’s current contract

Let’s give a nice “thank you” to Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager Sam Presti for this one. He offered Victor Oladipo the contract he is currently on.

The deal is a four-year deal worth a total of $84,000,000, with no raises. Vic is scheduled to make $21,000,000 per season through the 2020-21 season. But he could make more…

He has a small incentive in his contract. If he plays a certain number of games in the regular season and postseason combined, then he gets an extra $250,000. If he meets that games played number, his cap hit goes up by the $250k amount on the cap ledger next season. That number of games is unknown, but he did not meet it last season, so it is above 82.

This deal is a bargain. Oladipo is an All-NBA player, he is worthy of a maximum contract. The fact that he makes around the same amount as Ryan Anderson is a testament to how valuable his deal really is.

If Vic was on a maximum contract, he would be making $27.3 million this coming season. The $6.3 million difference between his actual salary and what he should be making is basically how much Doug McDermott is set to make this season. Essentially, Vic’s cheap deal allowed the Pacers to sign one of the best shooters in the NBA. Oladipo just keeps on giving.
