Aaron Holiday’s projected role this coming season

Following Holiday’s Summer League campaign, some have already penciled in Holiday as the Pacers’ starter at the point guard position. I will tell those people to pump the brakes, though. The Pacers already have a more than competent starting point guard in Darren Collison.

Cory Joseph was also a very solid backup last season and still has a place on this roster. Holiday isn’t ready to be thrown into the fire.

However, the beauty of this situation is that he doesn’t have to be heavily relied on. Indiana can comfortably let Holiday ride the bench this year, letting him develop under Collison and Joseph. And when he is ready, they can unleash him on the rest of the NBA.

My advice on Holiday? Be patient. He has tremendous potential to be Kyle Lowry-type player in the NBA, if not more. However, that won’t be the case in 2018.
