8. Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson is another player that Pacers fans may not feel warmly about right now, but when it wasn’t a case of “Lance being Lance”, he was a steal.

Drafted with the 10th pick of the 2nd round amid character concerns, Larry Bird and the Pacers brought Lance along slowly. He had his best year in 2013-2014, averaging about 14 points and 7 rebounds while nearly making his first All Star team. Stephenson spurned the Pacers contract offer to take a shorter contract with the Charlotte Hornets, and has struggled mightily since leaving the Pacers.

There’s enough talent for Lance to be a very good player in this league, and he was undoubtedly a great value as the 40th pick in the draft, but he’s beginning to look like a classic “what if” guy.
