NBA Mock Draft 1st Pick: Detroit Pistons – Cade Cunningham

When we think of consensus first overall picks in the NBA Draft, we only think of legends (excuse the not-so-often bust). This upcoming iteration will not be any different, as the one projected to lord over this class figures to be a phenomenal game-changer for one certain franchise.

The Detroit Pistons, who reigned as the champion in last season’s tank-athon, should not and will not think of getting cutesy with the first overall pick. It’s Cade Cunningham. Despite the increasing advocates for Jalen Green to be selected as the foremost rookie, not picking a possible generational talent in Cunningham is franchise malpractice.

The jumbo 6’8 guard is a maestro on the floor, excellent at finding his teammates in the open floor and attacking in half-court opportunities. A bona fide three-level scorer, Cunningham’s across the board, prodigious play makes him the clear-cut favorite to land as the first overall pick. It’s not rocket science.
