The win-now Indiana Pacers make use of their lottery pick to secure Bogdanovic

In this proposed deal, the Indiana Pacers send guard Jeremy Lamb, wing Justin Holiday and their 13th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft to the Utah Jazz for forward Bojan Bogdanovic and their 30th selection in the first round.

The Pacers seem inclined on giving teams considerable leeway to trade for their lottery pick for a win-now player. Bojan Bogdanovic, who’s still on contract for two more seasons, is easily a better target to dangle the 13th pick for instead of someone like Eric Gordon. Alas, his homecoming should also prompt Indiana to avoid overpaying to keep Doug McDermott while giving them even more impetus if they want to shift to small-ball.

On the other hand, this would be a tremendous cap-saving maneuver for the Jazz, who can save up even more by trading Lamb’s expiring contract later on. Justin Holiday is natural fit for Quin Snyder’s systems, but most importantly, the 13th pick in the deep 2021 NBA Draft will arm Utah with considerable upside and flexibility for the future and a young prospect who can come in and immediately contribute.
