The Indiana Pacers would love to have Thaddeus Young’s defense and grit back

Trading for former Pacer Thaddeus Young, one of the team’s leaders before he signing with Chicago in 2019, would be a reunion worth pursuing for Indiana. After all, the 14-year veteran’s skillset fits well with the Blue and Gold’s veteran core even at this juncture of his career.

Last season, despite playing a career-low in minutes per game since his rookie year, Young managed to add a new dimension to his game. His newfound ability as a playmaker out of the post, to the tune of a career-high 4.3 assists per outing, should similarly augment Indy’s offense, which already ranks second in assists, despite his three-point struggles and of course, defense.

As a return, the Bulls get a second-unit scorer in Jeremy Lamb while opening up more cap space. The two second-round picks, which the Pacers have marginal use for with their loaded lineup anyway, should sweeten the pot for Chicago to push the green light.
