Ike Anigbogu’s projected role this coming season

Not much, if anything, will change for Anigbogu in the coming season.

Al Jefferson’s departure for China opened up a spot on the roster for a third center, which Ike Anigbogu could have theoretically filled. But the front office brought in Kyle O’Quinn to take that role, and now Anigbogu will be back to being a depth piece as a big man.

Given that O’Quinn, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sabonis are ahead of Ike in the rotation, he will likely only play in either garbage time or in a catastrophic injury situation. It would not be surprising to see Ike once again once again play more minutes for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants than the Indiana Pacers.

Ike Anigbogu hasn’t amounted to much of anything so far in his NBA career. But he was the youngest player in the league last year and it’s still early in his career. There could be a quality player in him. We will have to wait and see. But I believe in Ike, and every time he touches the court he is worth keeping an eye on.
