While the team’s talent is undeniable, with the likes of Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet projected to catapult the franchise into its next era, there’s also last season’s surprising downturn that bodes well for detractors and naysayers.

Still, Canada’s lone NBA team is in a good spot to build for the future while maximizing competitiveness in the present. After snatching the fourth overall pick, Toronto likely won’t be reeling for much longer, notwithstanding Kyle Lowry’s eventful decision in free agency, if they stick with the obvious choice.

Gonzaga standout Jalen Suggs is a game-changing combo guard, boasting surgical precision as a playmaker and a highly creative three-level scoring. His court maturity is tremendous for hi age and his defense is quite reliable. He should be an exciting replacement for Lowry if the All-Star opts to go to an immediate title contender.
