Indiana Pacers: 5 worthy NBA Draft gambles in the second round
Herbert Jones brings tenacious defense to the Indiana Pacers
One of the most glaring team holes last season was defense, where a drastic drop from sixth to 14th catapulted the Indiana Pacers to a lottery finish for the first time in quite a while. Getting help on defense in the offseason naturally projects to be one of the front office’s major thrusts this offseason.
The upcoming NBA Draft will undoubtedly give the blue and Gold a lot of viable options on that front. Alabama’s Herbert Jones, who boasts a smothering defensive acumen and a flair for playmaking from the wing position, could be the man for the job.
While the wing position isn’t a priority for the Pacers, with TJ Warren back, returnees Justin Holiday and Oshae Brissett and even Doug McDermott expected to be interested in staying in Indy, having an option who can defend the league’s better forwards, especially as Warren eases his way back, could be a route worth taking with Indiana’s second round picks.
