The Indiana Pacers could sign-and-trade for guard Spencer Dinwiddie

Sign-and-trades are a tad more complicated because of leverage. It’s easy to say that the original team will be satisfied with simply taking back value in return, but the interested team will then fall victim to the other one suddenly upping up its standards to facilitate one.

That’s exactly why Spencer Dinwiddie‘s offseason will be very interesting to watch. But if anything, his price tag will be pricey, even saying that he may go back to Brooklyn only if an offer to the tune of 5 years, 125 million is on deck. Still, the Nets should be interested in bringing him back, even as a sign-and-trade catalyst.

The Indiana Pacers, being hard-capped, are limited in their options. They may send out a starter aside from TJ Warren, who has a rather modest deal, or another sign-and-trade candidate on their own with Doug McDermott, alongside a salary filler. If the Blue and Gold acquires Dinwiddie, he could serve as a high-minutes bench leader to man what could be one of the league’s best second units.
