What if the Indiana Pacers botch the NBA Draft?

With a high draft pick at their disposal, the Pacers have a chance to shape the future of the franchise. The 13th overall pick has had a very respectable history in recent years and Indiana hopes to continue that trend this summer.

Unfortunately for the Pacers, they have not done a great job of drafting over the past few seasons, and missing on yet another draft pick will not make things any easier. With a good crop of prospects set to hit the stage, Indiana will probably have a fair shot at a high-impact rookie with a ton of potential.

Indiana needs wing depth and upside on defense and this draft class has plenty of players that fit that mold. Moses Moody is the current fan favorite, or so it appears. If he is available with the 13th overall pick, he almost has to be the selection.

But what if all of the top wings are available and the Pacers are forced to look elsewhere? Failing to trade up to secure their guy or simply missing on their pick would be a devastating blow to the Pacers.

Trading down would also be an option given the current state of the roster but that would also require the Pacers to hope a prospect they like to continue sliding to them. Simply put, if the Pacers do not land a prospect that contributes in the rotation as a rookie, they will be stuck in the same continuous loop as always.
