Sactown decides to land a star

Pacers receive: Buddy Hield, Richaun Holmes

Kings receive: Victor Oladipo, TJ Leaf

Buddy Hield’s name has been tossed around in trade rumors on the Internet. If Vic does decide he doesn’t want to resign and force a trade Hield could be a  realistic trade target.

Hield has had the two best seasons of his career the past two years developing into a 20 point per game scorer while averaging nearly five rebounds and three assists. Hield and Oladipo do a lot of things similarly on offense but Hield must improve on the defensive side of the basketball if he wants to take the next step in his career.

Hield is 27 years old currently which is a year younger than Oladipo. He would fit into the core we have now age-wise as Myles Turner and Domas Sabonis are both 24 and TJ Warren and Malcolm Brogdon are 27.

The second piece of this trade, Richaun Holmes, is what gets me excited about this. If you were a fan of Jakar Sampson during the Pacers time in Orlando you would love Richaun Holmes. Holmes is 6’11″and averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds a game while shooting nearly 65 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the charity stripe.

Holmes is a rebounding nightmare. He does average 8 rebounds a game but what pops out at you is the offensive rebounds per game which is slightly below 3 a game. Being able to replace TJ Leaf with a rebounding machine-like Holmes would give Pacers size and rebound in a playoff series for next year where we saw the lack thereof this year.

The Kings could do this trade if they feel like they need a veteran to come in to help out the young guys that play starting level basketball. This could also help with some cap issues the Kings have as they have some heavy contracts on their roster that is tanking their cap. I think this trade has a decent chance of happening.
