The Indiana Pacers Transaction Trees Get Much Less Complicated
By Ben Gibson
Rakeem Christmas
The trade for Rakeem Christmas is still mostly overlooked as he’s made an impact with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants but yet to play a major part for the Pacers.
The tree is the oldest on the current Indiana team, starting with Dale Davis being drafted in 1991 and playing for the Pacers until 2000.
His time with Indiana ends when he’s traded for Jermaine O’Neal and Joe Kleine of the Portland Trail Blazers. O’Neal sticks around until 2008 when the Pacers package him with Nathan Jawai and sent them to the Toronto Raptors for a group of players including Marceo Baston, T.J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic and most important, Roy Hibbert.
After a few playoff runs, All-Star appearances, and plenty of blocked shots, the Pacers send Hibbert to the Los Angeles Lakers for a 2nd round draft pick in 2019. They didn’t hold on to that pick for long as they traded it to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the final move on the Christmas’ tree.
Here’s to hoping Christmas can make the transition from the D-League to the NBA.
So what does the whole thing look like?
