Rumors about Paul George’s future have been swirling around the Pacers for a while now. This summer will be a crucial one, and 8points site-expert Hunter Kuffel sat down with the Lakers Legacy Podcast to break it all down.

This offseason very well could be the most important of Paul George’s career. He’s going into the last year of his contract with the Indiana Pacers, but it’s never been more uncertain that he’ll finish it in Indiana. Every day brings a new rumor, each one clouding the decision that new GM Kevin Pritchard must make.

There’s a lot of moving parts to talk about, so I visited the Lakers Legacy Podcast to hash out the different scenarios and try to get inside Kevin Pritchard’s head. The interview discusses the likelihood of a Paul George trade, pie-in-the-sky trade packages, analysis of Larry Bird stepping down, what the Lakers would have to give in a trade, and more.

There is still a great number of crucial factors in this saga that we can’t and don’t know yet. For instance, we don’t know if Paul George will be named to an All-NBA team, making him capable of earning the Designated Veteran Player Extension. Early results don’t seem to favor George’s chances, but you don’t know until you know.

We also don’t know if the Lakers will be keeping their draft pick or sending it to Philadelphia, finally paying the price for the Steve Nash trade several years ago. If they keep it and offer it up to Indy, trade talks start to get a lot juicier. If not, we might have been getting all worked up for nothing.
