It was just a few weeks ago that sportswriters-moonlighting-as-psychologists from far and wide were talking about how badly the Pacers all hated each other. Their body language was just terrible, people said. Obviously some internal riff had ripped the team apart at its seams and the now-splintered wreckage would slowly collapse into the sea like so many Titanics.
Of late, nothing could look further from the truth. Perhaps there were some issues, but nevertheless everyone seems to love each other now. They celebrate on the court like college kids, and all look ecstatic to be playing like a good basketball team again.
Case in point: The above greeting the Pacers gave Rasual Butler when he entered the team plane bound for Miami. It’s his 35th birthday today, so his buddies wished him a happy 40th.
Kids these days.
