Given Indiana’s recent struggles, they need all the help they can get off the bench. Unfortunately for the team, they can cross Andrew Bynum off the list of possible saviors.
He will miss at least in the first round of the playofffs, according to the Associated Press.
Coach Frank Vogel said Thursday that he believes the Pacers’ oft-injured center still could work his way back for the playoffs. But he won’t be available for the first round, which opens Saturday in Indianapolis.
Who knows if Bynum’s knees will allow him to play again this year?
At this point, the Pacers should be happy if they can get anything out of the backup, who has played just two games since joining the team on February 1. It’s a shame because the hulking center showed much promise in those two outings, notching a combined 23 points and 19 rebounds in 36 minutes.
