Post Game Grades: David West, Paul George and Lance Stephenson Beat Lowly Bucks

postgamegrades_inpost

The Good - David West, Paul George and Lance Stephenson combined for 86 points on nearly 60% shooting.

The Bad - The rest of the team only scored 24 points on 24.2%.

Also the Pacers gained a 22 point lead with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter which forced the Bucks to call a timeout. From that timeout until the 6 minute mark in the 3rd quarter, the Pacers were outscored 36-16 while shooting 33% and allowing the Bucks to shoot 66%. If you consider yourself the best team in the league, you can’t do that against the team with the worst record in the NBA…

MVP - David West. The Pacers were playing through him in the 4th quarter and the Bucks had absolutely no answer. No double team? Easy basket. Double team? Found the open man beyond the arc.

LVP - George Hill. Zero points, zero rebounds, one assist and two turnovers. Ugh.

X Factor - Lance Stephenson. 15 points on 5 of 7 from the field and 2 of 2 from deep in the fourth quarter.

Indiana Pacers 110 FinalRecap | Box Score 100 Milwaukee Bucks
David West, PF 33 MIN | 11-16 FG | 8-10 FT | 7 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 30 PTS | +5

Mr. West owned the building.

Paul George, SF 36 MIN | 10-18 FG | 7-9 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 32 PTS | +6

Great game shooting. 5 of 7 from deep and 12 of 18 from deep over the last 3 games. Starting to get back into the rhythm from the beginning of the season.

Roy Hibbert, C 34 MIN | 1-9 FG | 2-3 FT | 6 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 3 BLK | 2 TO | 4 PTS | +4

Roy can never get a failing grade because of his rim protection but 1 of 9? C’mon big fella…

George Hill, PG 31 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 0 PTS | +6

I’m still trying to figure out how he played 31 minutes last night.

Lance Stephenson, SG 37 MIN | 7-13 FG | 7-10 FT | 9 REB | 8 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 24 PTS | +8

Another near triple-double.

Luis Scola, PF 15 MIN | 2-7 FG | 1-2 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 5 PTS | +5

Gotta start hitting those open mid-range shots.

Ian Mahinmi, C 14 MIN | 1-2 FG | 3-4 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 1 TO | 5 PTS | +6

If Ian plays like this every game, Bynum won’t be seeing minutes for a while.

C.J. Watson, PG 17 MIN | 1-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 2 PTS | +4

Don’t remember him doing much. Stat line agrees.

Rasual Butler, SG 23 MIN | 3-10 FG | 1-2 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 8 PTS | +6

Solid production without Granger or Turner.

Rasual Butler continues to be not terrible. Good signing.

    • Jack Wright

very solid all around player. I would gladly take him as our usual backup for PG. But Turner will probably bring us a little more.

A little? Rasual has a better stroke from deep but he can’t hold a candle to Turner.

    Keep it going PG!

Hill apparently is sick. Considering that Sloan played well in his absence and Lance is the primary playmaker, it might make more sense to rest him until he’s feeling better if he turns in more nights like this.

Roy couldn’t buy a basket. Part of it was just bad luck, part of it was his unwillingness to go for power in certain circumstances.

Is it just me or does OJ Mayo look like the guy who ate OJ Mayo?

  • Philip Tarrant

West brutally physical with Milwaukee bigs who looked like bantam-weights trying to take on an in his prime Mike Tyson. Lance had his normal energy, and thus was everywhere at once, flying circles around his earthbound opponents and teammates alike. Paul George finally looking like Paul George again. Could do with more of that from him. Did Hill seriously even play? I don’t remember seeing him do anything. And seriously, what happened to Scola’s mid-range?

    Attention, Hoosiers.

I am on the precipice of booking my trip (from Australia to the USA) starting with Indianapolis in late May. Google has been some help, but some human recommendations would be handy too. Since I have nowhere else to turn, and 8pts9secs have yet to institute a forum system, I will just ask here.

Can someone please recommend me some places to stay in Indianapolis. I’m not super rich, so cheaper would be better. Fairly close to BLF would be handy, but anywhere in the Downtown area or nearby would be feasible, I imagine. Or even anything that’s awesome value for money but slightly out of town would be considered.

Any help on anything at all is more than welcome. Lay it on me.

    Thanks

Plenty of hotel space walking distance to BLF. Priceline or Expedia and you will find something not too expensive.
