Spoiler Alert: Paul George will win the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

Don’t even watch it. Don’t worry about this new format, which let’s get into this new format.

From what I read, the new format consists of the Eastern Conference versus Western Conference with three guys on each side. That first round is a free style format, where each side gets 90 seconds to complete as many dunks as they can.

Then, from there, it goes on to one on one battle mode, where judges decide the winning team and a loser gets eliminated. Whichever team wins “three battles” wins.

At the same time, an individual winner can be decided by a vote through twitter, text, instagram, and such. Is all of that clear as mud?

I am a Pacers fan, yes, but Paul George still has to be the hands on favorite in this competition, especially with the fan vote. If fans already voted Paul George to be in the All Star game, I would believe he’s got a great shot at winning the vote for Slam Dunk Champion. Is that what the final winner will still be called?

Personally, I just don’t know all about these new rules and format changing. I would just go with one on one and decide the winner based on judging. I love fan interactions, but do you really need that much fan interaction to decide a winner?

Just throw out former slam dunk champions out there to decide the winner. That’s how I would go about it. I don’t know if it would add much “luster” to the contest since that’s what has been missing. But I still feel like it would be a better change than the proposed ones. I guess we will see how it all shakes out tonight.
