Post-Game Grades: Pacers Lose a "Basketball" Game to the Mavericks

postgamegrades_inpost

The things I do for you people. I mean, seriously, Joan of Arc would have given up watching this “professional basketball game” midway through the second quarter. Yet here I am, not only sticking it out to the buzzer but even writing about this abomination to the sport.

Say something nice at my funeral, would ya?

bunk-the-wire

The Good – I hope you’re not serious.

The Bad – If I took the time to explain it all I wouldn’t have time to ever eat, sleep or bathe again. Let’s just say, if you saw it I’m sorry and if you didn’t consider yourself fortunate.

MVP – Dale Davis.

LVP – I dunno. Herb Simon? Greg Ballard? James Naismith?

X-Factor – Xavier McDaniel and/or Wolverine.

Defining Moment – Middle of the second quarter when I gouged my own eyes out with a spoon. Why not a fork? Why a spoon? Because it’s dull, you twit. It will hurt more.

Is this mid season blahs, or were we over achieving earlier in the season? Sh*t Fire!

    • Derek Cooper

First part of the season paul was a superhero-mutant-baller-god from planet bad-ass. Its ok and expected that that’s not sustainable _but jeez he keeps trying to only always be that all the damn time. Why why why paul__ seriously why. Also scolas super midrange numbers from the first portion of the season u wouldn’t expect to be quite sustainable. And _though I love vogel for a coach_ I think he’s afraid to experiment with different rotations/units.______and probabaly lots of other reasons too…

      • Derek U

        His biggest flaw is rotations.

  • Jalen Bishop

I had to comment on here; this is fantastic.

  • Stanley 001

    There goes the #1 seat In about 1, 2, 3, 4 games.

So I typically get off work, get home, watch the second half and call it a good day. If I am unable to watch it, I will check out twitter and ESPN to see how it ended up, and then decide rather to watch or not. But today, I decided I wanted to see the whole game without knowledge of the finish beforehand. I waited till after the game was on League Pass AND THEN WASTED A PERFECTLY GREAT WEDNESDAY NIGHT. Thank you very much Pacers.

This team is frustrating to watch looked great some nights and some nights looked like
a complete garbage. Losing to scrub teams and blowing leads. If they play like this in the playoffs they will be eliminated in the first or second round.20 turnovers only 4 points in the 4th quarter and 7 came in the final 4 minutes of the game

Excuse me, do you think that the Pacers are the only team that has frustating loses? Do you think it wasn’t frustrating for OKC to lose at home against Toronto, or Brooklyn? Or for Miami to lose against Boston at home? Of course it is. EVERY team has OFF nights. Pacers played like crap? Yes, but against a good team with one of the best coaches in the league.
Last season, the Pacers had some really frustrating loses. This was just an off night against a good team.

  • Someguy

Lot of things to say in one post:
    1) This team is not frustrating, if you believe this team is frustrating become a Thunder fan and do NOT watch the NBA. Slumps come and go, this is a SLUMP, but take a look back on the last 5 years and tell me a team that didn’t drop these same sort of consecutive games. Vegas had us at 50 wins, 50 WINS (that’s ten of our next thirty), don’t get greedy
    2) Dallas can still play. Ellis has a low ceiling, but he hits it EVERY night. He WILL score the ball. We couldn’t score, this will happen on occasion, especially with our team. Do you watch the games????
    3) Paul George is not PG right now, the guy has a lot going on, he may be dealing with some stuff that is bigger than basketball right now, ie strippers and baby mommas.
    4) We are RIGHT in front of the break, a lot of teams put their guard down when you’re in front of the break, is it ok? NO, but it’s a reality in the NBA.
    5) Danny Granger is GRANNY DANGER, it sucks, is and always will be one of my favorite players. But, as you defenders of the guy says he plays good d and brings leadership, he shoots under 50 on a daily ****** basis. Kurt Thomas was a great dude, but he was meaningless last year, and as much as it pains me to say it, Danny is Kurt Thomas right now.
    BUT
…………..Take a deep breath folks, and lets go ahead and win 55+ games

    • Someguy

      and get that 1 seed

      • Realist

It would take a massive meltdown not to win 60, in my opinion.

        • Someguy

completely agree, only point I was trying to make is that Pacers are on course to exceed 50 if they go 500 rest of the season

    • Derek Cooper

Granger had nice efficientcy tonite: 4 of 9 (and 3 of those were made 3′s). That’s 11 points on 9 shots. Plus 2 of 2 freethrows. And 5 rbs +a block in 20 minutes is good.

The only thing disappointing about the last couple weeks is the increase of complaining from the Pacer players to the officials. It clearly is Paul George’s go to thing when he is having a bad night. It is one of the most annoying things as a fan when you see a good player having an off night and he is complaining to the refs after every play. Lebrun is the king of that. The end result just makes your team look bad and also your team stops getting any calls. Last night perfect example. West and George were complaining all night and all it did was make it hard to watch. Yeah maybe there were bad calls, but it obviously helping the team at all with all that bitching.
The mavericks had a bad game the night before against an ok team, I expected the game to be a lot better from both ends, but instead it was a chippy brick fest.
Here’s to the second half of the season. Go Pacers!!!

  • lil-bang

Looks like Jared cashed in his grades like the Pacers did this game. George Hill nor Danny Granger should have been below a B, let alone an F?
